12/01/2024: Congratulations to my PhD student Bangde Liu on his first lead-authored paper “Obtaining the longitudinal compressive response of unidirectional laminate composites from fiber misalignment micrographs through machine learning.” published on Composites Part A. (LinkedIn)
10/24/2024: I had a fantastic experience at the 2024 American Society for Composites (ASC) conference! Huge congratulations to my PhD advisor, Prof. Wenbin Yu, for receiving both the ASC Fellow Award and the Outstanding Researcher Award. It was also a great honor to celebrate Prof. Kenneth Reifsnider’s retirement during the conference—he is a role model for me to follow. Congratulations to my student, Bangde Liu, for his first national conference presentation! (LinkedIn)
05/03/2024: A fantastic conference in Seattle. It was an honor to receive the ASME/Boeing Materials and Structures Award. Thank you to all the co-authors of the paper. Looking forward to the ASME SSDM conference in Houston next year. (LinkedIn)
04/16/2024: Great work for my students, Twinkle Kothari and Bangde Liu, during the 2024 College of Engineering Innovation Day at UT Arlington. Congratulations to Twinkle for receiving the Judges’ Choice Award. (LinkedIn)
04/02/2024: A fantastic experience visiting NASA GRC and learning exciting works in composites and materials informatics. Thank you to Andrew Provenza for hosting me and the travel support from NASA MPLAN award. (LinkedIn)
10/07/2023: I had a wonderful visit to Boeing and was thrilled to present our work on machine learning-assisted modeling of composite materials and structures. It was heartening to see over 300 registered participants for the talk. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Wenbin Yu for the recommendation and Dr. John J. Dong for the invitation. (LinkedIn)
10/01/2023: I am incredibly humbled and honored to share that I have recently received a NASA MUREP Partnership Learning Annual Notification (MPLAN) grant. I will be working on multiscale defect analysis of advanced composites. Looking forward to working with NASA researchers and other collaborators. (LinkedIn)
08/01/2023: I’m excited to announce the publication of our first journal paper on mechanical lattice metamaterials in the Mechanics of Materials journal. The paper, titled “Improving Stiffness and Strength of Body-Centered Cubic Lattices with an I-Shape Beam Cross-Section,” presents both experimental and numerical evidence illustrating how the utilization of I-shape beams in body-centered cubic lattices enhances the stiffness-weight and strength-weight ratios by as much as 159.13% and 41.42% respectively.
